auspicious coincidence

It doesn't look like I'll ever get around to writing the big introduction that I wanted to write, so I'll just spit it out: We got a dog!  She's a velvety mid-sized older dog that has been homeless since her family had to abandon her during Hurricane Katrina.

I don't have any fresh batteries for my camera and naturally the ones in the camera died after I took only two pictures, so this picture will have to suffice: 

Notice she made herself right at home.  Older dogs don't fuck around, and since her dog bed fashioned out of all organic materials hasn't arrived yet I'm letting the fact that she likes to cuddle up on that yoga mat go for now.  Soon, I hope, we'll both have beds of our own and neither one of us will have to search for a way off the floor.

Anyway, she's a real sweetheart, calm and patient, even with Norbu.  We've named her Maitri which means loving-kindness in Sanskrit, and she wears it well.
