vow
Auspicious coincidence allowed me to take the bodhisattva vow over the weekend after all. I received the name Ngeshe Datso which translates to Certainty MoonLake, which means, of course, that my biggest obstacle is my uncertainty, i.e. my poverty mentality. It didn't come as a huge surprise, however, since the preceptor flat out asked me what I felt my biggest obstacle to becoming a bodhisattva was. "Poverty mentality," I answered, adding, "I get stuck in the trap of doubt."
Contemplating putting others before myself all weekend gave me an opportunity to see how needy I am. I want certain responses, certain answers, certain explanations. No wonder I get so frustrated when I don't get my way!
